This is an octagonal building made from sandstone ashlar with a hipped plain tile roof. At one time the coat of arms of the Marquis of Anglesey was displayed on the front of the house.
It was listed on 28th January 1988 and according to britishlistedbuildings.co.uk it ‘may have been the lodge to the predecessor of the current factory’ but this is completely incorrect. Not only is it in the wrong position for either of the two potteries that were on the site in the 1850s but it was only placed in its current position in 1938. It was originally a game larder, from the early 19th C, at Beaudesert Hall and was moved to Armitage by a local builder, Arthur Wright, for John Harvest who was the head modeller at the pottery.
