1837 Electoral Roll

This register shows all the electors entitled to vote at the election of any ‘Knight of the Shire’ to serve in Parliament for the Southern Division of Staffordshire which might take place between 1st November 1837 and 1st November 1838.

It shows only 69 voters with nearly half of the people eligible to vote living outside the village. Both the residence of the voter and the location of the property in the village which provides the qualification for the vote is given, sometimes also with the names of tenants.
